How we work, in plain language

What happens when you order a film, what's included, when you pay, and how we look after your information.

1. How an order works

  1. You send a brief: your product, who it's for, and the one thing viewers should remember.
  2. We send you a link to a private storyboard page. It shows the hook, each scene, the on-screen words and the voice direction. It's free.
  3. You change anything you like, then approve it on that page.
  4. Once you approve the storyboard, we send a private preview of the full package. When you are happy with it, we email our bank details. You pay by bank transfer and upload the receipt on the preview page. We send you the finished files once the payment is confirmed.
  5. We deliver the finished film and the files in your package.

You are not charged for anything before you approve the storyboard.

2. The storyboard

The storyboard is our work. We share it with you on a private page so you can review and approve it. It stays our property. Until the project is paid, you agree not to copy it, share it, or use it (or let anyone else, including software, use it) to make a film or other video. The full voiceover script and timings are shared once the project is paid. The same goes for the film itself: it stays ours, and you agree not to copy, share or use any part of it, until the project is paid. We may close the review page if a project is abandoned. If you pay for the project, you own the finished films, as described below.

3. Prices and payment

Prices are in US dollars and are shown on our pricing section. Payment is due by bank transfer once you are happy with the preview, and before the finished files are sent. Every Release is a monthly plan: it renews each month, and you can cancel any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Unused videos roll over for one month.

4. Revisions

Each package includes the number of revisions listed on the site. If the finished film doesn't match the storyboard you approved, we fix it at no extra charge and it doesn't use a revision. New changes beyond the approved storyboard, such as new scenes, new copy or a new direction, use your included revisions. Extra revisions are $39 each.

5. Refunds

Every film is made specially for you, so we can't refund a payment once we've delivered the work. That's why the storyboard comes first and costs nothing: you can see exactly what you're getting before you pay. If we are unable to deliver your film, we will refund you in full.

6. What you give us

You confirm that you have the right to use the product, screenshots, recordings, names and logos you send us. Please don't send passwords or anything you wouldn't want in a video.

7. What you own

You own the finished films. Post them, edit them, or run them as paid ads on any platform. The music is composed for your film. The voiceover is generated with a synthetic voice. Unless you ask us not to, we may show the finished film in our portfolio.

8. Spec samples

The brand videos on our site are unsolicited samples made from public websites to show our work. The companies shown haven't hired, paid, endorsed or partnered with Overnight Cut, and their names and logos belong to them. If you represent one of those brands and want a video removed, email hello@overnightcut.com and we'll take it down within 48 hours.

9. Your information

How we collect and use your information is in our privacy policy.

10. Changes

If we change these terms, the new version appears on this page with a new date. Orders you've already paid for keep the terms that applied when you ordered.
